What ever happened to respecting the dead?
My husband and I were sitting at home on Sunday morning, and as I was flipping through the channels there was another “breaking news” story about Michael Jackson. I don’t know exactly what this one was about… the pain killers that he may or may not have been addicted to…. his children and their sleeping arrangements with their father… Neverland… I don’t remember and it really doesn’t matter. I didn’t watch it, but Ray brought up a good point. What ever happened to respecting the dead?
Yes, the man was famous. Yes, the man was controversial while he was alive… but he is no longer alive. There was mixed feelings about him thanks to the way he chose to live his life, but he is gone… and he should rest now.
I would like to know something. What good does it do anyone (besides the obvious… money) to go and find more dirt on him? It’s not like he can give an explanation to his actions or the behaviors that are being torn to shreds in these “news stories”. No, instead his family and children have to continue to be subjected to all of the talk and speculations. Is it not bad enough that they just had to bury someone they loved? Is it not bad enough that the children now have to go through a custody battle between their mother and grandmother? They are young and they are grieving… if the entertainment “news” industry didn’t respect Michael Jackson enough to not put a stop to these stories once he died, then how about showing some respect for his family.
I guess it just bothers me that with so much else going on in this world, there are still people out there that feel the need to find the negative things about someone who is no longer living. Whether you liked him or not, shouldn’t we just let it be?
What do you think? Am I the only one who feels that we should let the good, bad and ugly come to a rest once someone has passed on?

Couldn’t agree more! Yes, he may have been odd. Yes he may have been controversial, but the man is no longer here to defend himself. All he has is his poor children here, left mourning him. No matter anyone else’s opinion’s, he was the father to 3 innocent children. It makes me sick to see that the media can exploit these kids like they are doing, and continue to dig up things on MJ. Shame on those people who participate in such activities!

I feel sorry for his children. It’s sad that they have to be subjected to the controversy and probably will be for the rest of their lives.

Ok my thoughts…let the man rest in peace and let his family grieve. I feel when someone (especially famous someones) that they should be left alone. Speculations and all the rest should go away. He’s dead? What’s left to be said really?
