Tell it Tuesday – 9/15/09

tell it tuesdays

  • First thing… I am so sad to hear of Patrick Swayze’s passing. I found out about it through a tweet on my phone. Not knowing if it was just another prank, like those from a few months ago, I feverishly searched the internet to see if there were any reports out yet… there weren’t. Sadly though, while Ray was messing around with his fantasy football stats, we saw the confirmation on Yahoo. He was a great man and I loved him in Dirty Dancing and in Ghost. He will always be remembered…
  • I am eagerly awaiting the pictures that my sister N took at the U2 concert on Sunday. I can’t believe that I forgot my camera at home. I tried taking a picture or two with my phone, but they just didn’t turn out. N and I looked out yet again! This is the 3rd U2 concert that we’ve gone to together and each time we have been able to get fairly close to the front (ok, so last time we were right up in the first row – right in front of the center stage – now that’s close!!). We arrived at Soldier Field at 3pm on Sunday to find a massive line for the General Admission ticket holders… we kept walking further and further away from the stadium, sure that we would not get anywhere close to the inner circle. Time crept slowly on this warm sunny day but things finally started moving shortly after 5. Once inside, we quickly walked (under the threat that if there were any runners they would be walked back out to start all over again) through the maze that is the inside of Soldier Field onto the actual (protected) field and searched for the inner circle entrance… which we quickly found (thanks to some tips from others in line outside!). Once inside the circle we found our sweet spot… it was about 7 rows (or people) back from the stage, since the stage was much higher this time, and right in between where Bono and The Edge were destined to stand… it was the perfect spot! I won’t go into too much more detail, because I’m thinking this day is worth it’s own post, but I will say that it was a great concert and I’m so happy that Ray watched Noah so that I could go! Thanks hon!!!
  • Speaking of Noah… he has not had a poopie diaper since last Wednesday!!! He started doing the big deed on the potty on Thursday and has been doing it in there ever since. I am so proud of my little pooper!! It’s still hit or miss (not literally thank goodness, just with the timing) on the whole peeing in the potty thing. I’m hoping that he slowly gets better with that (still hoping for a toddler in underwear by April!). I’m not trying to force the whole potty training issue on him, but I think it’s great that he is able to do what he does already. I just try to make a big deal about it when he actually does something on the potty and reward him with letting him walk around with a bare bottom for a few minutes afterward and with a little chocolate morsel (1 for pee pee only – 2 for both). (Since I wrote this last night and am just now getting around to posting it, I thought I would let you know that his streak has ended… but hey 5 out of 6 days is fantastic to me!!)

  1. Wow, he is doing great on the potty training. Ya got a genius there:)

Regarding Patrick Swayze: I was surprised at my reaction. I actually cried a little. I was watching a movie and Jason came running up the stairs and said somebody had died and that this time he knew who it was. He is not a celebrity person.
