No hockey virgin here!

Last Friday Ray surprised me with a phone call at 9 am… he was able to find a pair of tickets to the Blackhawks/Canucks playoff game 6!!! A quick phone call to my mom later (we couldn’t go without a sitter after all), and the tickets were ours! To say I was excited is an understatement… and if I was excited, well Ray was a giddy as a little kid on Christmas morning! He is a huge Blackhawks fan and this was the first time that he was going to the stadium to see a playoff game.

Now the thing is, I am a fair weather fan at best. I like the Blackhawks and have been known to watch a game here or there (mostly playoff games), but generally prefer to blog or craft while Ray watches the game. I’ve been really out of the loop since they won the Stanley cup last year, since we no longer have cable and most if not all games are shown on cable right now. Sooooo….. it was a pretty big deal that a playoff game… no let’s rephrase that… that a win or die playoff game, would be my very first game.

I’ve been to the United Center a few times prior to this for concerts and the circus, but I’ve never been there for any sort of sporting event. We got there about 45 minutes before the game and were able to walk down to the glass and get a great look at the ice… let me just say that those seats look fab-u-lous! While our seats weren’t right on the ice, they weren’t bad either… in fact, they were pretty great… right on the goal line… the same view as Vince Vaughn… only we were just a few rows higher! 😉

Not only was it exciting to be at my first ever hockey game, but I guess I got  to see a few things that you don’t see all the time… there was a penalty shot, there was a 2 man advantage at  one point and they had to go into overtime (ok, so that’s not so rare). I was told before the game, that if the Blackhawks lost I would no longer be allowed to go to any future games. I really wanted them  to win, the game was so much fun… though it was a nail biting, edge of your seat, Iwanttopunchsomeone because it was so tense game. In short it was AWESOME to see finally this…

Yes, that means I can go back again!!!!

A special thank you goes out to my mom, who not only watched the kids during the game but also offered to watch them overnight. Those 7 1/2 hours of uninterrupted sleep were great (and soooooo needed!). The kids had a blast at their Omi’s and Noah didn’t want to leave!
