Last weekend we did something that I haven’t done in… oh about 25 years. We went strawberry picking at a local farm!! It was fun for all of us and Abby especially liked it! She got the hang of it right away and started filling her belly as fast as I could fill the basket.
The kids eyes grew large as we walked past row after row of strawberry plants to get to just the right one. As soon we got there, three of us started picking the berries… and one decided to eat… guess who!!
After a little coaxing, Noah decided to give the fresh strawberries a try… and of coarse he loved them too!
Who wouldn’t love fresh, ripe, juicy, red strawberries? They were so sweet… much sweeter than any store bought ones… and red the whole way through too.
Not all of the berries were perfect though… Noah wasn’t too happy with the ones that weren’t.
When she wasn’t stuffing her cheeks, Abby was busy singing to us… “me huddy (hungry). Me strawbries”… over and over and over again… and the more she sang, the louder she got!
We had a great time at the farm, and despite Abby’s constant need to eat the strawberries that I picked, we even came home with a little bit of fruit too! 😉
YUM!
I’ve taken my girls to an apple orchard, but never to a strawberry farm. We should really do that sometime! I’d probably eat more than I brought home, though! 😉
I bet they would love it… you would too!! The strawberries are so much better… just make sure to eat before you go, then you don’t have to worry about not bringing enough home… or just fill up there and don’t worry about it. 😉 We’ve never been to an apple orchard, it’s on my list of things to do this fall though!
