It’s spring break and I’ll admit that even though I have quite a bit of studying to do, I am happy to not have to drive in to school this week. Sure I only go in on one night a week, but even that has been a bit much these past two weeks. So much so, that for the past two weeks I have only gone to class long enough to take a quiz or exam and then I drove back home. The exam last Thursday was brutal… not only was it hard (I wasn’t nearly as prepared for it as I had been for the prior one… hmm I wonder if having Abby had anything to do with that?!?), but it was also long. I swear I felt my milk shoot in twice while I was taking it and I had just fed Abby before I left the house! If that’s what happens when I leave the house for 1 1/2 hours, I don’t want to know how I will be after staying the whole 3 hours + the drive to and from school… I guess I’ll find out next week!
Registration for the summer semester was last week. I looked to see what classes would be available and what the schedules would be like, since it’s a condensed semester. After looking everything over, my decision to skip the semester was pretty much a no brainer. I would end up having to go in to school for 4 hours a night, 2 to 3 nights a week, just for one class. I can’t do that… Ray can’t do that. So I will be taking a break from classes over the summer. Though I’ll admit that I am a little disappointed about missing out on a semester, I think the time off will be good for me. It will give me the chance to spend the summer with my children, while not worrying about tests, homework and exams. It will also give me the chance to sit back and really think about what career path I would like to walk down.
Originally, I had thought about going into Early Childhood Education with a teaching degree and teaching 1st or 2nd grade. Lately though, I’m not so sure that’s the best idea for me. There have been many budget cuts here in Illinois and many teachers are getting laid off. Last week, one school district informed over 100 teachers that they would not have a job next year… that was in a town not far from where I live. It’s things like that that don’t give much hope to someone wanting to get into teaching!
So… now I am seriously thinking about which path I would like to go down. I am still seriously considering Digital Media, but I have to do some more homework about both the program and the job opportunities afterward. Right now though, that seems like a hard thing to do… it’s not easy to think straight when you’re extremely sleep deprived!
So that’s that… just a few more things to think about in the upcoming weeks… This week though will be spent trying to get Noah to wear and not pee in his “Big Brother” undies! Yes… that means we will be attempting to potty train! This Spring Break should be interesting!
Wow – potty training with a newborn!? You must be superwoman 🙂
I think I’m more insane than anything, which is probably why I’m procrastinating the potty training this week. 😉
Good luck sounds like you have your hands full! I hope the weather will be nice over Spring break might help with potty training.

Taking a break is probably for the best. You can enjoy the kiddies. When Abigail gets a few months older you can start using your brain again and start thinking about your future;)
Sorry to hear about the school near you. Our district is also having issues. But so far our school is staying open. Keeping my fingers crossed about that.
Good luck potty training Noah. In two weeks I will be doing Adela. Yikes!!

Good luck w/ Adela’s potty training!
Yeah, as much as I hate to admit it, I think the break will be good. I need some perspective so that I can figure out what I want to be when I grow up! ha!!
You cracked me up with your milk shooting in comment, lols. How are things with 2? Sounds good to take off the summer and enjoy your two babes. How sad that so many teachers are losing their jobs – hope you can figure out what path you want to take. And GOOD LUCK with PT’ing!!!

Potty training sucks. Just sayin’.
I have one class to take over summer. UGH! I don’t want to take it. I have to register in April sometime. Other than that, I think I am off this summer. I wanted to be off all together. LOL
