The Resolution Post

We’re now 10 13 days into the new year, and I think I can safely say that I have a clear set of resolutions/goals for the year ahead. Some of them are not so new and are repeated goals from years past, some goals are pretty typical for this time of year, and others (professional goals) are so out there that they feel completely unattainable, which just makes me want to reach them that much more.

As far as personal goals are concerned, this year I will try to:

* Make 1 new dish a week. I’m not going to be picky about this and say that it has to be main dishes only… as far as I’m concerned it could be a side dish or even dessert. The main thing is that something new was tried. The new item for this last week (one that I was super squeamish about) was live lobsters. I won’t lie, I was quite hesitant about this but it’s been on my foodie husbands bucket list of things to try, so I put on my big girl panties (sort of) and went along with it.

* Make one new craft a week… either with or without the kids, but ideally with. This goal sounds a little more fun to me since I love to craft and so do Noah and Abby. Thanks to the two extra days off last week, we’re also off to a good start with this goal. I decided to mix a little science in with our craft and had the kids make puppy, followed a few months later by Michael, and any routine that I had held was lost. Michael is a little older now (near 4 months!!), and after lots of consideration and heavy decision making, the puppy was rehomed to a family with more room and time for her. It’s now the perfect time to get back into a regular cleaning routine and start decluttering our home.

* Finish Abby’s blanket. I started crocheting a blanket for Abby a few months ago with the hope of having it finished by Christmas… well Christmas had come and gone and her blanket is still sitting in piles of crocheted circles and squares downstairs. It’s my first large  crochet project, and I underestimated the amount of time, work, and yarn that would go into it. I’ve picked up my hook again though and it is becoming my go to project to work on while relaxing after the kids are bed.

Start writing more often. I miss writing. I miss the interaction… but with 3 young kids, there are times when something has give and unfortunately this was it. I plan on changing that though and have already penciled in writing goals for the next few months… so this time when I say I’ll be back soon, I’ll actually mean it! =)

So there you have it… just a few of the things that I will strive to do or accomplish this year. How about you? Did you set any goals for yourself?
