My Monday Musings

Just a quick post before the day starts (I’m actually writing this Sunday night, but shhhhh don’t tell!). I’m pretty much done with my Christmas shopping, but I still have a lot to do before Thursday.

I still haven’t sent out my Christmas cards – I made up some photo cards on Friday, but have to have them printed and sent out today… talk about last minute!! I know that for the German family they will be more like New Years cards, but its the thought that counts right?

I only have one gift left to buy and it is a gift card… I will pick it up today while out doing errands. Though I’m done with my shopping, I am in no way done with my gifts… I have planned to make Noah a complete set of alphabet and number bean bags and still have a lot of work to do on them. I also have his gifts to wrap and I’m hoping that the last 2 gifts I ordered online will come soon, so that I can wrap them too. I’ve been keeping up with the wrapping (even wrapped the gifts from Ray to me after he boxed them up… and no I didn’t sneak a peek – I like the surprise!), so I don’t feel very overwhelmed with whats left to do – well except for the bean bag project – it will be 61 bags total! I think I need to buy more beans while I’m out!

I’ve only baked one batch of cookies so far and those are long gone… I did get 2 batched of sugar cookie dough ready, but haven’t made them yet. I hope to be able to spend Tuesday baking my butt off. The holidays just aren’t the same without cookies! Besides the sugar cookies, I’m planning on baking more chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal butterscotch cookies (my favs!), peanut butter cookies, snickerdoodles and I will attempt to make haystacks… well that’s the plan at least! I know that the first 3 cookies listed will definitely be made, we’ll see about the others!

I only have the stair railings half finished… I’m such a decorating failure!

I thought we had a name picked out for baby girl, but Ray doesn’t think it fits and vetoed it. Back to the drawing board. I didn’t think picking out a girls name would be this hard!

I think we’ve gotten somewhere with the sleep problem!!! It’s been almost a week since we started the whole cry it out bit and though the first few days were bad, Noah has been sleeping through (well mostly) until 4 or 5 am for the past few days! The first few nights he would still wake at 12 and cry then fall back asleep til 5. Then he woke at 2 for a few nights and cried for a few minutes before sitting there in his crib and doing what I call the head bob – which was staying awake, while falling asleep but refusing to lay down until the bitter end. The past few nights he’s slept until 4/5 ish and it has been great! It would have been even better had Ray and I not gotten to bed around 1 or 2, but it’s still great! What’s nice is that he’ll wake up at that time, drink his bottle (or sometimes just half of it) of milk and then fall back asleep with us. Since he took such a long late nap tonight, we let him stay up until 9pm and you know what? He went to bed without fussing at all!!! It was just like it used to be a few months ago and I loved it. I watched him in the monitor as he tossed around a little to get comfortable and I thought it was so cute to see him grab his stuffed monkey – George- pull him over and give him a big kiss!!! He then turned his head and said a few things in gibberish and fell asleep! It was just too cute and I wish I could have taped it!

Alright… one last thing – I think I’m following everyone back who has a blog linked to Google Friend Connect – if I missed you please let me know! I’ve been trying to go through and comment on the blogs that stopped by on my SITS day… I’m finding a lot of fun blogs to follow or subscribe to! It’s going to take a while longer though before I’m completely through… I will do it though!!

I hope you all had a great weekend and if you’re out on the east coast… I wish we had a portion of your snow!!! Send it over!! =)

  1. Hey mama! I am glad Noah is sleeping better for you. The first few days are rough, but it totally does get better. I hope he continues the good sleep.

LOL about being a decorating failure. I haven’t even started my banisters yet! ha!

So cute about Noah and his monkey. Joley has an elephant I catch her loving on. Johnny has a dog that he is loving more than me most days. haha!

So, I am curious what the girl name was. Girl names were tough for me. Johnny was named after my dad so it was easy. Girls, not as easy.

  2. My decorating never did get quite off the ground this year! Oh well. Sounds like you are very well prepared! I’m only a teeny bit jealous:)
    Have a wonderful Christmas.

  3. you made me exhausted reading what you still have to do! I still have tons of gifts to wrap. That’s about it for me, though 🙂

So glad you’re getting better sleep. Me too! David’s slept through every night for a week now. He gets up between 4-6am to nurse and then goes back down until after 7. ahhh so nice!

  4. Wow! Busy, busy. I am glad I am done with all the stuff. I just have to work this week. Phew!

I had a baby girl named picked out my whole life. Baleigh. But at 5 months pregnant, I decided that didn’t go with the last name Strumila. Baleigh Strumila it’s like a mouth fumble. So we decided on Sydney, it just flowed better. I never even thought of Sydney so it was really cool how it just happened. Hopefully it will come together for you guys like that. 🙂

    Hang in there!
